Solomon Islands Member of Parliament for Central Honiara Gordon Darcy Lilo has clarified that there is no incentive scheme involved in the current political development in the country.

Lilo told the local media Thursday following the formation of the new political grouping that intended to form the next government if a motion he filed against the current Prime Minister is debated and passed in parliament next Tuesday.

“We have never engaged in any kind of incentives schemes…to make the kind of change that is happening…and that is what we are experiencing today.”

Lilo also refuted rumours that there are power struggling issues that may be merged within the group, saying such would not happen.

“We are determined to really disapprove this kind of assessment that has been made.”

He explained the current political development is all about a convergence of interest and ideas that the country is important.

He claimed the current political development presents a better situation for the group to see a better hope and a possibility of a more prospective policy direction for the country to move forward.

Lilo insisted the newly formed political grouping is determined to move the country forward and address issues faced by the people.

“Our interest is to take this country forward. We are really determined to ensure that the cries of our people, the issue that our people have been facing, we had to take that head on.”

“It is our national interest, the interest of our people and the interest of the development of our country moving forward.”

He assured that the group will deliver its plans to serve the people.

He added that the opposition group after the 2024 election has developed alternative policies to deal with issues such as the high cost of living, inflation and lack of real investments.

He said he is impressed with the current formation, saying it has well experienced leaders that have great interest for the country.

“I can say to you that we can present an alternate government that is more positive in its outlook and also looking at the critical areas that we need to consider to ensure the development pathway and trajectory of our country moving forward.”

On Monday this week, 11 senior cabinet ministers and backbenchers resigned from the Government for National Unity and Transformation led by Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele and moved to the opposition group.

In its current formation, the newly formed grouping claimed to have the numerical strength required to form the next government if the Manele leadership is toppled through the motion of no confidence.
