Heads of the Council of Regional Organisations in the Pacific (CROP) and the United Nations Pacific Country Team (UNCT) met in Suva for their inaugural Strategic Dialogue, aimed at strengthening coordination and alignment on Pacific priorities.
The meeting was held at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and builds on the CROP–UNCT Pacific Principles for Dialogue and Engagement signed in 2024.
The Dialogue comes as work begins on the next Pacific United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2028–2032.
It provided an opportunity for CROP agencies and the UN system to strengthen alignment with the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent and priorities identified by Pacific Leaders.
The meeting also focused on improving coordination between regional organisations and the United Nations to reduce duplication and strengthen the delivery of development outcomes for Pacific countries and communities.
The inaugural Dialogue marks a step towards a more coordinated CROP–UN partnership that places Pacific leadership at the centre of regional development and supports implementation of Pacific priorities.
