The Kaiviti Silktails had to scrape hard in order to beat the Mounties rugby league side Saturday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The 22-20 win has now seen the Lautoka-based side go four consecutive matches unbeaten.

Manoa Vilikesa’s try in the first half was cut short as Mounties two tries through Matt Craparotta and Roman Ioelu saw them go into the lead at half-time by 10-6.

The Mounties team scored an early try in the second spell to extend their lead to 10 points.

Rusiate Baleitamavua’s try pulled the Silktails back into the match, however, Roman Ioelu’s brace put the Mounties at the front foot.

The Silktails dug deep and the two tries from Tomasi Seru and Meli Nasau gave the Silktails victory over a determined Mounties side.

Silktails head coach Wes Naiqama said he was proud of his boys performance.

Mounties head coach Luke Branighan said his side didn’t put the game to bed when there were opportunities and heaped praise on the Silktails outfit for their victory.
