Fiji’s Armed Forces deputy Commander Humphrey Tawake promoted to Commodore

The Deputy Commander Republic of Fiji Military Forces Captain [Navy] Humphrey Biutilomaloma Tawake was promoted to the rank of Commodore at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks Officers Mess  Friday 24th September 2021.

Commodore Tawake hails from the village of Mualevu, Vanuabalavu in the province of Lau. He was enlisted into the RFMF on 19th June 1990 and was commissioned as an Ensign on 1st July 1992. He recently graduated from the Australian War College and is an Executive Diploma graduate in Strategic and Defence Studies from the Pertahanan National University, Malaysia.

He has attended courses conducted by the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, Hawaii, Malaysia and Australia and is also an alumnus of the Britannia Royal Naval College in the UK.

He has held various appointments with RFMF units with the Fiji Navy, HQ RFMF and Ministry of Home Affairs. He has also served on several tours of duties with various peacekeeping missions in the Multinational Force and Observers in Egypt (MFO), United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), United Nations Missions in East Timor (UNMISET) and United Nations Disengagement Observers Forces in Syria (UNDOF).

In addition to his peacekeeping medals, Commodore Tawake is also decorated with the General Service Medal (GSM) and the Fiji Meritorious Service Decoration (MSD).

Commodore Tawake is married to Sereana Moce Tawake and has four children.
