Forum SG High level consultations in Tonga

The Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General Henry Puna is visiting Tonga for a series of high level consultations to strengthen visibility and engagement for regional priorities in 2023, across a range of sectors.

SG Puna has met with the Foreign Minister Fekitamoeloa ‘Utoikamanu, Crown Prince Tupouto’a Ulukalala, and the Prime Minister of Tonga, Hu’akavameiliku Siaosi Sovaleni and was hosted to a dinner reception by PM and high level dignitaries, officials, on Wednesday night.

Ahead of his departure to Fiji, he will meet with ministers and government senior officials, civil society and private sector networks and will also visit secondary schools. SG Puna will be taken to Tsunami affected areas to learn more about Tonga’s recovery.

Today SG Puna will have a courtesy call on the legislative assembly Speaker, Lord Fakafanua ,attend a High level ministerial dialogue, High level consultation with civil society and remarks at business community closing reception.

On Friday SG Puna will have Youth engagement visits to Tonga High School and Tupou College, and briefing with Senior Government officials.

He is accompanied by Joan Puloka, the Forum Executive Coordination Officer, Joel Nilon, the Acting Senior Adviser, Policy, and Lisa Williams, Adviser, Public Affairs.
