Cook Islands caretaker Prime Minister Mark Brown has thanked voters, candidates, volunteers and supporters following the country’s latest general election.
Brown said he was filled with gratitude to everyone who turned out to vote and take part in the democratic process.
“Today my heart is full of gratitude.
“Thank you to everyone who came out and voted, for taking part and making your voice heard. This is what makes our country strong,” Brown said.
Brown also thanked the people of Takuvaine-Tutakimoa for again placing their trust in him.
“To the people of Takuvaine-Tutakimoa, thank you for placing your trust in me once again. I don’t take this lightly and will keep working for you and your families,” he said.
He acknowledged all candidates who contested the election, saying it took courage to put their names forward to serve the people.
“To all our candidates, thank you for stepping forward and for the heart you poured into this campaign. And to everyone who put their name on the ballot across our ipukarea, it takes courage to serve our people,” Brown said.
Brown also thanked campaign volunteers and supporters for their contribution, saying there was still more work to be done.
“To our volunteers and our supporters, thank you for your aroa, your energy and your faith. There is more to do, and with your support we will keep going forward together,” he said.
Brown’s Cook Islands Party (CIP) is on track for a fifth consecutive term in government, with preliminary results from the 2026 general election showing the governing party leading with 12 seats.
