Fiji will be welcoming the United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau for an official visit this week from Friday 27 February – Sunday 1 March 2026.

This high-level visit presents a unique opportunity for Fiji to elevate its collaboration with the United States by exploring new pathways to deepen partnership.

During his visit, the Deputy Secretary of State will hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka and senior government representatives to discuss strategic partnership to supporting Fiji’s national development and regional solidarity.

Key engagements will also include the signing of the Compact Development Funding Agreement between the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of Fiji. The MCC grant aims at unlocking private sector–led growth and opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment and economic development.

As part of his mission to the Pacific, Deputy Secretary of State Landau is traveling to Hawaii, Tonga, Fiji, and Samoa from 22 February to 01 March 2, 2026.

The visit coincides with the Pacific Agenda: Investment, Security, and Shared Prosperity Summit which was held earlier this week at the East-West Centre in Honolulu, Hawaii.
