Cronulla Sharks captain Tiana Penitani and Cowboys utility China Polata headline the Tonga Women’s squad to take part in this year’s Pacific Championships.

Both players enjoyed strong seasons with their clubs and also featured in this year’s State of Origin series and will provide key experience to the side being coached by Kelvin Wright.

Eels winger Cassey Tohi-Hiku, who recently starred for the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII team in their win in Papua New Guinea, and Titans rookie Dannii Perese – who featured in their NRLW grand final loss to the Knights – will also add a boost to the side.

Tonga will feature in Week 2 of the Pacific Championships and will take on New Zealand at Eden Park later this month.
