Over 300 confirmed cases, 45 recoveries in Vanuatu

As of Monday this week, Vanuatu has recorded a total of 341 confirmed COVID-19 cases. 45 of these cases have recovered.

42 cases have been reported on Efate and 17 on Santo, as of Monday this week.

Minister of Heath, Bruno Leingkone said the Ministry of Health (MOH) is continuing investigation into the death reporter in south Santo and will confirm later if its related to COVID-19 or not.

He said final preparations to set up community isolation and quarantine facilities are underway and they should be open in a few days to start accommodating people with COVID-19 symptoms.

Minister Leingkone called on retired nurses and doctors to indicate if they want to help out during this crisis

They are encouraged to call the Director of Policy Planning on 22515.

He assured the public that the government will not ensure the vaccination operation does not affect other daily health services.

Minister Leingkone said MOH is working to relocate the NCD Clinic from Vila Central Hospital to Freswota area.

MOH will announce when the Freswota NCH Facility will be open to NCD patients.
