The Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) is ready to work closely with member countries to protect the ocean and strengthen communities during the Melanesian Ocean Summit in Port Moresby, says Ilan Kiloe, Acting Director General of the MSG Secretariat.
Speaking at the Melanesia Ocean Summit in Port Moresby, Kiloe said MSG will help coordinate efforts in fisheries, marine conservation, climate resilience, and ocean governance.
He stressed the need for strong cooperation among Pacific nations to safeguard the ocean and support communities.
Kiloe also pledged support for the Melanesian Ocean Corridor (MOCOR) Declaration, saying MSG will act with unity and agency to help members put it into action.
“The MSG stands ready to support its members in the implementation of the outcomes of this summit and to work in partnership to ensure a healthy, resilient and prosperous ocean for all people,” Kiloe said.
The Port Moresby summit brought Pacific leaders together to reaffirm Melanesia’s solidarity and leadership in ocean stewardship.
