The Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) has marked the handover of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, with leadership transitioning from the Solomon Islands to the Republic of Gambia under the principle of equitable regional rotation set out in the Revised Georgetown Agreement.

OACPS Secretary-General Moussa Saleh Batraki commended the outgoing President, Solomon Islands Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade Peter Shanel Agovaka, for steering the Council through a demanding period.

He credited Agovaka’s leadership with advancing institutional reforms, strengthening financial consolidation efforts, and guiding preparations for the 11th OACPS Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The incoming President, Seedy K. M. Keita, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs of Gambia, set out the priorities for the new Presidency, highlighting financial sustainability, governance reforms, resource mobilisation and maintaining strong political engagement ahead of the upcoming Summit.

The transition comes as the Organisation steps up preparations for the 11th OACPS Summit, with a focus on continuity, unity and a results-driven approach to multilateral cooperation.

The 11th OACPS Summit of Heads of State and Government will be held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea from 27–29 March 2026.
