The Pre-Forum Officials Committee (FOC) Meeting has begun, bringing together senior government officials to discuss key governance issues for the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and review progress on regional priorities under the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.

The meeting is being chaired by the newly appointed FOC Chair and Papua New Guinea High Commissioner to Fiji, Jacinta Tony-Barrion.

Senior officials are using the meeting to assess implementation progress across the seven thematic areas of the 2050 Strategy and consider matters related to the effective delivery of regional initiatives.

The discussions form part of preparations for the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting, which will be hosted by Palau.

Officials are also reviewing outcomes from recent regional ministerial meetings, including the Pacific Islands Forum Women Leaders Meeting and the Forum Economic Ministers Meeting, to ensure key recommendations and priorities are reflected in upcoming leaders’ discussions.
