Senior officials from Pacific ACP countries have reviewed evolving regional and global challenges facing Forum member countries while receiving an update on the implementation of the Samoa Agreement during a meeting at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in Suva.
The Pacific ACP Officials Meeting, held on 03 August 2026, was chaired by Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Fiji, Joseph Ma’ahanua, representing the Pacific Islands Forum Chair.
Officials discussed the implications of evolving regional and global challenges for Forum member countries as part of preparations for upcoming regional meetings.
The meeting also received an update on the implementation of the Samoa Agreement, including progress on ratification, strengthening institutional arrangements, securing sustainable resourcing and aligning implementation with the Review of the Regional Architecture.
Separately, Senior Officials from the Smaller Island States (SIS) met for the 2026 Smaller Island States Officials Meeting (SISOM) to advance regional cooperation and prepare for the 2026 Smaller Island States Leaders Meeting and the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Palau.
Chaired by Kiribati, officials discussed strengthening the Smaller Island States grouping through a review of its membership criteria and updated priority focus areas.
The meeting also received updates on institutional arrangements for the Smaller Island States and preparations for the 2026 Smaller Island States Leaders Meeting and the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting.
