The Embassy in Suva, in partnership with Basketball Fiji, is proud to announce that two star players from the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters, Will “Bull” Bullard and Cherelle “Torch” George, will embark on a Sports Diplomacy tour through Fiji and Nauru.
As part of their tour, the Globetrotters will hold a special public event at Yat Sen School on Friday, 16 August from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This family-friendly event is open to all, and admission is free.
The Harlem Globetrotters, an American exhibition basketball team, have entertained millions worldwide with their unique blend of athleticism, comedy, and theater. Founded in 1926, the team has become an iconic symbol of basketball excellence and showmanship, known for their creative ball-handling skills, trick shots, and engaging audience participation. Over the decades, the Globetrotters have played more than 26,000 exhibition games in 124 countries and territories, often serving as ambassadors of goodwill.
Will “Bull” Bullard, renowned for his high-flying dunks and charismatic presence, and Cherelle “Torch” George, a Guiness World Record holder, will bring their talents to Fiji and Nauru.
This tour is part of the U.S. Department of State’s Sports Diplomacy programme, which uses the universal appeal of sports to bring people, cultures, and countries closer together. During their time in Fiji and Nauru, they will visit schools and meet with basketball fans throughout the two countries.
During the event at Yat Sen, attendees will have the opportunity to watch Bull and Torch demonstrate their basketball prowess, participate in interactive games, and experience the Globetrotters’ signature skill and comedy. This is a unique opportunity to engage with two outstanding athletes who exemplify the power of sports to inspire and unite.
