A landmark moment for our Oceans, our Fisheries and our Future: Forum Fisheries Committee(FFC) Officials Chair Director Glen Joseph of the Marshall Islands, supported by Director-General Dr Manu Tupou-Roosen, filed the Forum Fisheries Agency’s (FFA) first ever submission to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague last week.
Spearheaded by Vanuatu, in 2023, the UNGA adopted a Resolution by consensus to allow a request to the ICJ for an Advisory Opinion to clarify State obligations on climate action.
This marks a huge step forward in our collective work to address Climate Change, echoing the call for urgent and decisive action.
Several States and organisations, have also filed their submissions this past week.
