The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC) has been granted the exclusive rights to provide live radio coverage of the Pacific Games.
An agreement between SIBC and the Games Organising Committee (GOC) stated that SIBC shall provide live to air radio transmission of sports and ceremonies from the games venues.
This includes broadcasting of matches, the opening and closing ceremonies.
SIBC may commercialise radio broadcast, by selling ads and programs while the SOL2023 sponsors shall be given the first right opportunity to purchase such programs.
Under the same agreement, GOC granted SIBC non-exclusive free to air rights for live TV broadcast of the Pacific Games within Solomon Islands, where streams shall be free of charge to the end user/viewer. The streaming will be GEO-BLOCKED to the Solomon Islands.
Speaking during a signing ceremony at the SIBC Headquarters at Rove, SIBC’s Chief Executive Officer, Johnson Honimae says, the SIBC is pleased to be given the rights to provide radio live coverage of the games.
He said SIBC will try its best to live broadcast the games to its listeners.
“SIBC appreciates these important rights that have been given to us as the national broadcaster.”
“ SIBC will try as much as possible to bring the games to our viewers, listeners and followers on TTV 1, radio and online platforms,” Honimae said.
Meanwhile GOC representative Andrew Lano said GOC is pleased to grant the rights to SIBC.
He explained this completes the number of rights holders which will be providing live coverage of the games.
GOC has granted a total of 8 broadcasting rights so far to provide live coverage of the Pacific Games.
