Pacific climate ministers meet Tuesday for the sixth Pacific Climate Change Ministers’ Meeting, as the region works to strengthen its position ahead of a series of major regional and international climate negotiations.
Ahead of the meeting, a briefing was held for co-chair Wayne Ghemu, Solomon Islands’ Minister of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology.
The Pacific Climate Ministers Talanoa, to be held on 21 July, is jointly chaired by Ghemu and Australia’s Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen.
The meeting is expected to advance regional dialogue and strengthen alignment on Pacific priorities ahead of the Pre-COP31 meetings in Fiji and Tuvalu, the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting, and COP31 in Türkiye.
