As the Pacific Mini Games approach, media teams in Palau are working behind the scenes to ensure smooth coverage of the regional event expected take place on 29 June to 09 July 2025.
Local journalists and media professionals are coordinating efforts to provide timely updates through live streaming, print, and social media.
The Palau National Communications Corporation (PNCC) is installing dedicated Wi-Fi at key venues to support live reporting and broadcasts, marking a significant upgrade in coverage capabilities.
This year’s event will mark the 12th Pacific Mini Games, with Palau last hosting the 7th edition in 2005, nearly 20 years ago. The VII South Pacific Mini Games, held 25 July – 04 August 4, 2005, brought together 20 teams competing in over 170 events, featuring 12 sports. Then-President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. officially opened the Games, with Christopher Silas Adolf, Palau’s first Olympian, lighting the torch at the National Stadium in Koror.
Now, as Palau prepares to host again, organizers are establishing clear standards for media coverage while also addressing security concerns related to cyber threats and unauthorized access. International media interest has grown, prompting discussions on accreditation and broadcast rights.
With Palau hosting its first major sporting event in the fiber optic era, media teams are working to showcase the competition to a broader audience while delivering in-depth coverage beyond the Games.
For the first time, the Games will be covered with high-speed fiber optic connectivity, allowing for faster updates, live streams, and expanded coverage across multiple platforms.
While athletes train for the competition, Palau’s media teams are also preparing for the challenge of delivering seamless coverage to fans. With PNCC’s support, key venues will have dedicated Wi-Fi to enable live reporting and real-time updates.
From play-by-play action to behind-the-scenes features, local media is working to ensure audiences stay engaged throughout the Games, marking a new era of digital sports coverage for Palau.
