In Tonga, anticipation is building ahead of a no confidence vote against the Prime Minister, scheduled for next week.

It will be the second time, Prime Minister Hu’akavameiliu Siaosi Sovaleni will be facing down a vote of no confidence against him.

The motive behind the challenge is unclear, but Hu’akavameiliku is confident about his chances of defeating the challenge. However, an announcement by one MP to support the motion indicates the motion may get the numbers to oust the PM.

That MP is Noble’s Representative Lord Tuilakepa who had long supported the Prime Minister until now.

“He has said he will support the motion…that’s huge development, that may be enough to swing a vote against the PM,” said Lopeti Senituli, a former advisor to the Late Prime Minister ‘Akilisi Pohiva.

“I have a feeling this motion will be successful,” added Senituli.
