World Rugby has reinstated Fiji to the World Rugby Council, effective immediately.
This decision comes after the Executive Board approved the recommendation from the Fiji Oversight Committee, following the adoption of a new constitution and governance structure.
“World Rugby can confirm that Fiji has been reinstated to the World Rugby Council with immediate effect following the Executive Board’s approval of the Fiji Oversight Committee’s recommendation to reinstate the union.
“This follows the adoption of a new constitution and governance structure in line with the required roadmap outlined in May 2023,” World Rugby said on X.
The reinstatement solidifies Fiji’s place in international rugby, ensuring its voice is heard in key decisions affecting the sport.
The reinstatement follows months of restructuring and is seen as a crucial step in strengthening Fiji’s role in global rugby.
Meanwhile, after a five-year hiatus, the World Rugby match officials Level 3 Course is underway in Suva.
World Rugby trainer Talemo Waqa, alongside three trainers from Australia and New Zealand, is leading the training for regional participants from Samoa, Tonga, Nauru, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, and Fiji.
The workshop will conclude on Saturday.
