Team Fiji swimmers, David Young and Anahira McCutcheon are among the athletes who have confirmed their spots to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France this month.
Team Fiji Chef de Mission, Sale Sorovaki confirmed that Young and McCutcheon will be the only athletes competing in swimming for Fiji.
This was after-Young and McCutcheon achieved the highest World Aquatics Point score in their individual Olympic event.
Young and McCutcheon are scheduled to depart Fiji with the team next Thursday 11 July for Divonne-les-Bains where Team Fiji will be hosted for pre- training camp before their move to the game’s village on 18 July in Paris.
The sports that have travelled in the first wave include Rugby Men’s 7s who are training in Bordeaux and Taekwondo who are in South Korea before joining the rest of the team in Divonne-les-Bains on 19 July.
Sorovaki has confirmed that the sports Team Fiji will be competing in at the Olympics include Rugby 7s men’s and women’s, Sailing Men’s and Women’s, Taekwondo Women’s, Judo Men’s, Athletics Men’s, Table Tennis Women’s, Swimming Men’s and Women’s.
“We are expecting everything, a very competitive game. We are really appreciative of the support from Fijians across the country and around the world, and we are ready for to represent Fiji in Paris,” he added.
Team Fiji will begin competitions at the Paris Olympics in the Men’s Rugby 7s on 24 July.
Meanwhile, the 2024 Paris Olympics Games Opening Ceremony will be held Friday 26 July.
The Olympic Games will be held from Fri, Jul 26 – Sun, Aug 11 in Paris, France.
