Fiji’s Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua has confirmed that Police are investigating a leaked unsourced seditious document being circulated on the social media.

The concerning document is calling on the Republic of Fiji Military Forces to intervene after some decisions made by the coalition government.

Following the confirmation by Tikoduadua, Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP/O) Livai Driu said the Fiji Police Force is urging members of the public not to be easily swayed by rumours or information circulating on social media about purported plans aimed at destabilising the security of our nation.

Driu said Police are looking into the matter calling on people to be calm as Police are committed to their safety and security.

He said Police has been made aware of the information circulating and reassure members of the public that there is nothing to be concerned about.

“Police operations are focused on providing safety and security and there is nothing to be concerned about in as far as national security is concerned.”

“Do continue to source information from trusted reliable sources such as news media outlets or verified social media pages,” he said.

Fijivillage News also contacted Leader of the Opposition, Inia Seruiratu, and he has rejected the allegations against the FijiFirst circulating on social media.

Seruiratu said “the simple answer to your question is No, this is not an official FijiFirst document.”

Fiji Village have also contacted the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, and are awaiting his comments.
