The Brumbies’ position in the semi-finals was secured in the most dramatic of circumstances at GIO Stadium on Saturday.

With the home side having grimly defended their own try-line for several minutes following the final siren, Hurricanes captain Ardie Savea plunged over for what would have been the match-winning try.

However with no clear evidence of the ball being grounded, the TV match official affirmed the on-field decision of ‘held up’, and the Brumbies celebrated a 37-33 victory.

Their opponents next weekend, the Chiefs, progressed to the semi-finals earlier on Saturday with a 29-20 win over the Reds.
