Fiji will host the 11th European Union–Pacific Interim Economic Partnership Agreement (IEPA) Trade Committee Meeting and related events in Suva next week from 26 to 30 January 2026, in its capacity as Pacific Co-Chair.

The week-long programme will bring together senior officials from the European Union, Pacific IEPA States, observer countries, and regional institutions to advance trade cooperation, support the effective implementation of the IEPA, and promote deeper regional economic integration. Fiji will co-chair the Trade Committee Meeting alongside the European Union, with the Fiji delegation led by the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Dr Raijeli Taga.

The highlight of the programme will be the 11th IEPA Trade Committee Meeting, scheduled for 29–30 January 2026. The meeting will convene IEPA Parties the European Union, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Samoa as well as observer countries including the Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Niue, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Participants will review progress under the Agreement, discuss key technical and policy issues, and agree on next steps to strengthen its implementation.

In addition to the Trade Committee Meeting, the programme will feature bilateral meetings between the European Union and Pacific Island countries, a Pacific Caucus meeting, and a Global Sourcing Workshop engaging representatives from the Pacific fisheries industry.

These engagements are aimed at strengthening dialogue, addressing implementation challenges, and exploring opportunities to enhance market access and trade facilitation for Pacific exporters.

As Pacific Co-Chair, Fiji looks forward to facilitating constructive and outcomes-focused discussions that will deepen collaboration with the European Union and contribute to inclusive and sustainable economic development across the Pacific region.
