The Governor General of Australia, David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Linda Hurley made an official visit to Samoa to celebrate and strengthen the close bonds between Australia and Pacific friends.
Wednesday evening the Governor General of Australia and his delegation arrived at Faleolo International Airport on an Australian Defence Force Aircraft.
The Prime Minister of Samoa, Afioga Fiame Naomi Mataafa, welcomed the Governor General of Australia and his delegation.
Followed by the Guard of Honour performed by Samoa Police.
The Governor-General and his delegation later had an Introductory meeting with the Prime Minister of Samoa where the Governor General pass on Australia’s congratulations for Samoa’s recent 61st Independence celebrations.
He will also meet with the Head of State Tuimaleali’ifano Va’aleto’a Sualauvi II to celebrate the close friendship between the nations.
The Governor-General and his delegation will correspondingly visit Tonga, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Cook Islands and Vanuatu.
