Australian Prime Minister Albanese will visit Fiji today to hold bilateral talks with his counterpart Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in Nadi.

Australia and Fiji are warm friends and natural partners, with a shared interest in preserving a peaceful, prosperous and resilient region for our Pacific family.

The Prime Ministers will meet at Blackrock Camp to discuss ways to strengthen Australia and Fiji’s Vuvale Partnership with a focus on economic recovery, climate resilience and regional security.

This will be the first meeting between the Prime Ministers.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said: “It’s wonderful to be in Fiji again, and an honour to meet with Prime Minister Rabuka.

“I will be focused on listening to Prime Minister Rabuka’s priorities and vision for the future of Fiji.

“I’m keen to hear how Australia can work with Fiji to deepen business links, create more opportunities for young people, and strengthen the region’s resilience to climate change.

“I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Rabuka to Australia later this year,” PM Albanese said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said he’s looking forward to meet his counterpart Anthony Albanese.

Rabuka said the talks will be about government and regional security concerns,” he said at a press conference in Suva.

“Will be meeting at Blackrock and will be a good chance to thank Albanese personally to the development of the facility,” PM Rabuka said.
