Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has confirmed that deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, has stepped down from Cabinet following charges laid against him by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).

“Today, I received a communication from Manoa Kamikamica informing me of his decision to step down from Cabinet and from his position as Deputy Prime Minister,” Rabuka said in a statement Tuesday.

He said Kamikamica’s final day serving as deputy Prime Minister and Minister would be today, Tuesday 22 October 2025.

“Kamikamica will remain a Member of Parliament and will focus on clearing his name in relation to the charges laid against him by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption,” Rabuka said.

The Prime Minister confirmed he had accepted Kamikamica’s resignation and had been assured of his continued support for the Government.

“I have accepted his decision to step down, and he has assured me of his unwavering commitment to the Government and the people of Fiji,” Rabuka stated.

Rabuka said he would temporarily oversee Kamikamica’s ministerial portfolio “for the foreseeable future.”
FICAC has charged Kamikamica with perjury and, in the alternative, giving false information to a public servant.

Kamikamica’s decision marks a significant development for the coalition government as it faces increased public scrutiny over integrity and accountability within its leadership ranks.
