During the Pacific Technical Cooperation Session of the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) had the honour of welcoming Tuvalu’s Prime Minister Feleti Teo and a distinguished Tuvaluan delegation to the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS).

The delegation was in Suva for a bilateral meeting with Secretary General Baron Waqa and the PIFS management team.

This meeting provided a valuable opportunity to update on the progress of key regional priorities, including Gender, Regional Security, and Economic Priorities.

While in Fiji, Prime Minister Teo is participating in the Pacific Technical Cooperation Session of the CEDAW Committee.

Tuvalu, along with Solomon Islands and Fiji, is one of the three countries involved in country exchanges with CEDAW Committee members.

These exchanges enable the countries to share their progress, challenges, and ongoing commitments toward the implementation of CEDAW.

Meanwhile, Forum Secretary General Baron Waqa, also met with Resident representative for the UNDP in Asia and the Pacific, Munkhtuya (Tuya) Altangerel, for a courtesy call.

Discussions included the upcoming Pasifika Futures Conference in July, which the UNDP will co-host with PIFS.

SG Waqa also thanked UNDP for their support towards capacity building internally at PIFS as well as with Forum Members.
