Manu Samoa beat Fiji to claim Oceania 7s, Fijiana crowned women’s champion

Manu Samoa 7s clinched the Oceania 7s Championship with a try in extra time to beat the Fiji Development side 17-12.

Samoa led 5-0 at half time and then added another try at the start of the second half to lead 12-0.

Fiji hit back and levelled the score 12-12 at the final whistle forcing the extra time.

Samoa gained possession off the kick-off and did not panic as they swung the ball from one side to another creating an overlap to score the winner.

Earlier on Manusina 7s were beaten in the final by the Fijiana Development side in a thrilling encounter.

The results mean that both Manu Samoa 7s and Manusina 7s have qualified for the Challenger Series.

Meanwhile, the Fijiana Development side are the champions in the Oceania 7s after they defeated Samoa 14-5 in the final.

It was a tight contest as both teams went into the breather locked at nil-all.

The Fiji women played with more determination in the second half and managed to score two converted tries to Samoa’s one which made the difference.

They defeated Tonga 36-5 in the semi-final.
