The 7th PINA Media Summit officially began today in Niue where delegates from across the Pacific have gathered to discuss issues affecting the region’s media industry.
Opening the discussions, Niue Prime Minister Dalton Tagelagi said they were deeply honored to host members of the Pacific media.
“We are honored to offer a platform for a robust and topical discussions on the critical issues facing not only the media but our region and our communities,” he said.
“The theme of this year’s summit highlights our challenges the Pacific media navigating specific and emerging issues.”
Joining the first panel discussion, Fiji Media Association general secretary Stanley Simpson highlighted the challenges that local media firms and newsrooms faced.
He said new technologies and limited resources continued to be an ongoing challenge for local media companies in Fiji.
