Flying Fijians Captain Waqaniburotu believes unity is the way forward
00:14 am GMT+12, 13/08/2019, Fiji

Flying Fijians Captain Dominiko Waqaniburotu believe players have been given the best preparation leading up to the Rugby World Cup in Japan next month.

Waqaniburotu is particularly impressed with how team unity has played a role in their campaign.

He says that despite the different clubs they came from, one thing players pride themselves in is representing Fiji.

” It’s very good and the boys are gelling together, as you can see the boys are full of laughter and that’s the main point as we come ibnto training each day,the boys got to enjoy what they do and if you don’t enjoy what you do then might as well not do it, I think that’s the main thing for us we gel together we stay happy together and that’s how we move forward”

Meanwhile, head coach John McKee has indicated that half-back Frank Lomani might have just gotten his ticket to the Rugby World Cup.

McKee says that Lomani has given some impressive performance during their campaign.

“We’re not sure what the final number will be but certainly you’ll see there are some really good front rows coming through; they are pressured for spots there. Frank’s being probably our best half-backer over the campaign so he’s leading the way there.”

McKee gives credit to the Fiji Rugby Union for moulding players since camp started last month.

“It’s good to see the line of players coming through and I think it’s a reflection of the programs that the Fiji Rugby Union ran in the academy – with the Warriors program, the Drua program – those players are getting a really good quality training environment which is helping them deliver their skills.”

The players are currently on a week’s break before camp resumes next week and prepare for their final test match against Tonga in Auckland.

The Flying Fijians core team to the Rugby World Cup in Japan will be named this Friday.
