Kiribati names Toatu as new vice president

The Kiribati finance minister has been appointed the country's new vice president.
 
Teuea Toatu replaces Kourabi Nenem who was sacked by President Taneti Maamau two weeks ago for breaching the government's travel policy.
 
His offending allegedly revolved around an unsanctioned trip to Indonesia
 
Dr Toatu will also stay on as finance minister.
